What did you do this past week?

My team and I went over the new specifications for Phase 2 and decided on which tools we would use. We divided the work amongst ourselves and plan on working until our next meeting. I finished another group project this week as well as my normal weekly homework.

What’s in your way?

We have a lot to do and I do not have much experience with the tools we are using. I’ll need to learn how to do my part and communicate with my group so that we can work efficiently and finish before the deadline. The test is also this week so I will need to set aside some time to study for that.

What will you do next week?

Next week we will work on implementing the database schema and gathering all the data that it will hold. We also need to update the front end to include pagination, as well as create the necessary APIs.

If you read it, what did you think of The Open-Closed Principle?

I thought it was an interesting read and I got more out of it than I did when I read it in OOP. The principles presented in the paper line up with much of what I have learned from UT.

What was your experience of iterators, generators, and yield? (this question will vary, week to week)

Iterators were pretty intuitive and they are similar to what I have learned in other languages. Generators, on the other hand, I had never seen before; I still am a bit confused about them, but they seem like they can quite useful under the right circumstances.

What made you happy this week?

I was happy that the Houston Texans fired Bill O’Brian who was the head coach and general manager. I feel as if the writing has been on the wall for a while, but with that awful trade for David Johnson and our shaky 0–4 start, something had to give.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is Tony Chachere’s seasoning. This seasoning is a lifesaver because you can literally put it on anything. Oftentimes, I do not have the proper seasoning for a recipe, but luckily I can always substitute Tony Chachere’s.
