What did you do this past week?

This week I attended lectures and completed my normal weekly homework as well as my first project for my game technology course. I also got together with my group and we brainstormed ideas and delegated tasks for phase one.

What’s in your way?

My group and I have a lot of work to do to get our website up and running so we will be meeting up for discussion as well as working asynchronously throughout the week. I also have quite a bit of work in my other classes so this week will be a test in time management.

What will you do next week?

Now that our idea is finalized, we will work on getting our website set up with AWS as well as collecting data for our static pages. We will also set up our docker images and build our API with Postman.

What was your experience of types, object models, and iterators? (this question will vary, week to week)

I found the lectures this past week to be very interesting; I had no idea that Python has no primitives and instead inherits from the Object type. It was also informative to hear about all the different types and which types were iterable, indexable, etc. Professor Downing’s comparisons to Java and C++ help me understand python much better as I can see the similarities and differences between them.

What made you happy this week?

It made me happy to see the longhorns win against Texas Tech. I was sure that we had lost when we were down 15 with less than 4 minutes left in the game. But thanks to some magic from Ehlinger and Dicker we were able to claw our way back and win in overtime.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is to always get plenty of sleep. With school picking up it can be hard to follow a good sleep schedule, but I always try to get at least seven hours. Studies show that not getting enough sleep will decrease your mental and physical capacity the following day.
